FAM Trips participants are selected through an application process, only a select few attendees are accepted to these trips. Each destination looks for specific criteria, this may not always be based on numbers. Please make sure you can attend a FAM Trip before you apply. This road trip weaves through Northwest Kansas, blending nature, history, and small-town charm into a memorable adventure. We’ll start with scenic lakeside exploration, then settle down at a rustic retreat with a cozy campfire dinner. From there, it’s a journey through geological wonders like Castle Rock Badlands, Monument Rocks, and Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park for views you never expected to see in the Sunflower State. Small-town stops offer local flavors and history, including a fossil museum, cultural centers, and even an immersive dairy learning experience. We’ll dive into our Kansas heritage, from the stories of the oldest (and only remaining) Black settlement west of the Mississippi to the iconic bison of Fort Hays. We’ll cap it all off with a relaxing spa visit and craft brewery dinner—a perfect balance of outdoor adventure and regional treasures. This five-day Northeast Kansas road trip offers an exciting mix of history, culture, and relaxation, starting with breakfast in Wichita before heading to Lawrence for a stroll along its vibrant downtown. A peaceful retreat at a ranch provides time to unwind with a longhorn tour and massages. The journey continues with stops in Atchison for a dive into Amelia Earhart’s legacy and the town’s haunted history, and Leavenworth for military heritage and historic collections. Topeka brings architectural marvels, civil rights history, and local dining, followed by a stop at Louisburg for cider and wine tasting.
