So much to do, so little time! That’s one of the best parts about travel; you want to experience the city like a local and do it all! If you find yourself with any free time during your time in San Sebastian, Spain for the TBEX Europe conference, we encourage you to head out and explore some other cool places and events in our city that we just couldn’t fit into our Pre-BEX Tour lineup. We wish we had more time to show off MORE of our cool city! When you find yourself with some free time, here are some other events & places to venture out to to experience more of our beautiful city!
What is Pintxo-pote?
“Pintxo-pote is the Basque Country’s equivalent of a Happy Hour. But it’s better, because instead of just getting a cheaper drink, you get a bit of food too!
The principle remains the same.
For a couple of hours, usually in the early evening, bars that participate in pintxo-pote will offer a drink and pintxo for a reduced price of the usual cost. In most instances this will be on a weekday (usually a Thursday), anywhere between 7pm and 10pm, but this depends on the place with no “official” set day or time.
The idea is that the bars benefit as they get an increase in footfall during what would otherwise be a quieter night, and customers benefit in that they get a social drink and some delicious food for a decent price.
When it comes to the drink, there’s usually a choice, but it’s typically a beer (caña), a half glass of beer (zurito), a small glass of wine or a glass of cider (Basque cider of course).”
This is not a formal, organized TBEX event but instead a bit of “local flavor” we are sharing with you so that you can experience it while in San Sebastian for the conference. There is no planned conference event for the evening of Thursday, May 30th to conflict with your ability to enjoy this activity.
