After getting in the speed dating game at TBEX in Keystone, Colorado and Toronto, I’ve met my fair share of potential suitors. Some of those have led to exciting partnerships with TripIt, others have opened the door for future conversations, and some have fizzled out after the first date.
I was recently at a foreign press event, where the majority of the media present was not only print, but also British.
I am not without my shyness and apprehension of walking into a crowd of strangers. But I have learned to get past it and move forward. I grabbed one of the drinks being served, searched to see who wasn’t too deep in conversation, and went in for the hello.

Travel bloggers are a funny group. Dangle a new social media outlet in front of them and they’ve got a username and password faster than they can upload a snapshot of tonight’s dinner. Ask them how they use their email list, and they usually answer, “Ummmm, I’ve been meaning to work on that.”
