ITB to Sponsor TBEX Costa Brava; Partner for Speed Dating Event at ITB Berlin 2013

Some things just seem to go together – peanut butter and jelly, gin and tonic, bacon and. . . well, practically everything.  That’s exactly how we feel about today’s announcement of a partnership between TBEX and ITB Berlin.  They just seem to go together!

ITB Berlin is the world’s largest travel trade show, bringing together destinations, tour operators, booking systems, carriers, hotels, and other travel suppliers.  Last year, this business-to-business show had over 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries, and over 170,000 attendees.   We’re talking miles of exhibits and booths, meetings, and other events to help the travel industry conduct business and keep informed about the latest news in travel.

This is a big trade show!  And we know that it’s the kind of show that serious travel bloggers are going to want to attend.  That’s why we’re very excited to announce that we’ll be organizing a blogger speed dating at ITB Berlin 2013.  Connecting travel bloggers with travel industry representatives is something that we’re passionate about, and we believe this is a wonderful opportunity for bloggers to integrate themselves within the community and create important business relationships.

Be sure to stop by to meet the ITB team while you’re at TBEX.  You can find them in the sponsor area, and we know they’ll be eager to meet you as well.  A huge thank you to ITB  for recognizing the important role that travel bloggers play in the travel and tourism industry.  Let’s make good things happen.

Details and further information about the partnership and speed dating event will be announced at TBEX Europe in Girona, Spain.  Until we can announce more, just put these details on your calendar and we’ll hope to see you in Berlin.

Dates:  March 6-10, 2013

Location:  Messe Berlin, Berlin, Germany

Extend your Time in Catalonia: Barcelona’s Beckoning

Today we have a guest post from one of our sponsors, Go with Oh.  They were actually the very first sponsor to sign up for our TBEX Europe conference and we’re very excited about the support they’ve shown to travel bloggers.

They have a great offer for any TBEX attendees who are planning on staying in Catalonia, whether it’s extending the TBEX stay or planning a return visit.  You can count on quality from Go with Oh.  They only work with fully licensed and hand-picked apartments, so you are assured that they are well maintained and exactly as represented.

Here’s what Go with Oh has to say about your visit to Catalonia.

Barcelona at night

As a host city for TBEX Europe, Girona’s pretty original.  As Catalan as they come, this Costa Brava enclave remains an undiscovered part of Spain, straddling one hill, several cultures and countless centuries’ worth of history with aplomb. If you’re staying in the city itself you’re in for a treat.

Once TBEX is over, you might be planning on taking in the rest of what Catalonia has to offer. The good news is that a mere hour from Girona by train lies Barcelona – city of Gothic backstreets, Gaudí and gallons of Cava. Not to mention the biggest carnival in the Catalan’s capital’s calendar takes place September 21st-24th, 2013.  La Mercè is as feisty a fiesta as Barcelona hosts all year – complete with fireworks, sky-high towers of daredevil children and parades of friendly fire-breathing dragons. If you’ll be flying out right after TBEX, you might be able to take in a few of the festivities.

If you’re tempted by the prospect of killing two cities in one trip, we have a special invitation for you. We’re giving everyone attending TBEX Europe a 15% discount on apartment rentals in Barcelona – and the discount is valid through the end of 2012. Picture it:  acres of space in which to hang out, total flexibility over your schedule, and the option to get more for your budget by making meals in. Why not invite some fellow TBEXers over and make a proper party of it?

Hope you have a productive TBEX and looking forward to meeting you in September!

5 Reasons Virginia Tourism is Pumped About TBEX

This guest post is from one of our TBEX sponsors, Virginia Tourism.  You can stop by their table in the Expo hall to meet them.

Here’s why we’re pumped about TBEX!

  1. Virginia is for TBEX Lovers – Virginia Tourism has worked with bloggers for several years now, and of course we’ve kept an eye on the #TBEX hashtag, but this is our first year attending the conference. Needless to say, we are giddy with excitement to be a TBEX sponsor, and we’re looking forward to meeting as many bloggers as possible to talk about Virginia story ideas.
  2. Putting a Face with the Tweets – Over the past few years, we’ve made some valuable connections with bloggers who write about family travel, food and wine, outdoor recreation, and more through our @vatourismpr twitter account. So many of the folks we follow on twitter are attending TBEX, and we’re stoked at the opportunity to further develop these relationships by putting real faces with those avatars and twitter handles we’ve come to “know.”
  3. We’re Going on a Dozen Dates in Two Hours! – We’re excited to have the opportunity to share our LOVE for Virginia during our one-on-one face time with TBEX bloggers. As PR folks, our goal is to be the go-to resource for Virginia travel information. Speed dating sessions make that easy.
  4. The Speakers – This conference will not only be fun, but we feel confident that we’ll return to Virginia with a better understanding of bloggers and the art of blogging for our own blog posts.  With the fantastic lineup of speakers, the only issue we have is picking only one session to attend at a time. If anyone knows how to clone yourself for a day, please let us know.
  5. Chatting Over Dinner – With such a packed schedule at TBEX, it is hard to meet with everyone you want to. So, we are looking forward to continuing conversations with bloggers into the evening at the fantastic dinner parties that are planned. Any time top quality food and engaging conversation are combined, it’s sure to be a great time. What we’re NOT looking forward to is the extended waistline that is sure to follow, by hey, that’s the breaks. At least we’ll all be in the same boat!
