You already know how valuable TBEX can be for a travel blogger. The knowledge and networking opportunities at the conference can transform a newbie into the next big thing in travel blogging.
The problem is that the trip can be expensive for cash-strapped bloggers. If you don’t have a sponsor or thousands of dollars in monthly ad revenue, you might not be able to afford the trip.
That’s why WeHostels has partnered with Webjet to send one lucky blogger on a free trip to TBEX Toronto.
Keep reading to find out more about the prize and how to enter.
The Prize
One travel blogger will win:
- A Travel Blogger Pass to TBEX, the world’s largest gathering of travel bloggers, writers, and new media content creators.
- Free accommodations at Hostelling International Toronto. More info on HI Toronto below.
- A $500 flight voucher from Webjet to help you get to Toronto.
How to Enter
To enter, write a post on your blog about the most interesting person you’ve ever met while traveling.
He or she could be a blogger who inspired you to start writing, a traveler you fell in love with, or a local who treated you to dinner.
At the end of your post, please include this paragraph:
This post is an entry in the “Win a Trip to TBEX Contest” sponsored by WeHostels, Webjet, and TBEX.
To make sure your entry is counted, leave a link to it in the comments of this post. If you tag WeHostels (@WeHostels) when you share your post on social media, we’ll re-share it with our community.
On May 1st, we’ll contact the winner to claim his or her prize. Make sure your site has your email address or a contact form so that we can reach you.
Stay at the Bloggers’ Hostel at TBEX
Whether or not you enter the contest, we would love to have you stay with us at Hostelling International Toronto.
Book a bed in one of seven dorms available exclusively through the WeHostels app. These are the cheapest beds in Toronto and the best opportunity to meet other bloggers and travel industry people outside of the conference.
Meet the writers behind some of your favorite travel blogs including Clint from TripHackr and Chris from Packed Suitcase.
HI Toronto is just a short walk or light rail ride from TBEX and includes free breakfast, WiFi, linens, and lockers.
Travel bloggers love HI Toronto. Natalie of Near. Afar. (a Toronto local) included HI Toronto in her guide to where to stay in Toronto for TBEX. Corbin of I Backpack Canada lists 5 reasons to start your Canadian journey at HI Toronto on his blog.
After the conference, relax on the roof deck patio or at the Cavern Bar. We’ll be announcing even more perks for guests in the coming weeks.
To book your room, download the WeHostels app for iOS and find TBEX under the ‘Hot Trips’ tab. Save $10 on your booking with invite code tbexto (all lowercase).
You can find more info on the official TBEX lodging page.
We’re looking forward to meeting you. Remember to write your post and leave a link to it in the comments. The rooms at HI Toronto are available to book now.
Have any questions? Ask away in the comments.

Nothing would make me happier! 😉
Thanks, Inma. I love the beginning of your story. It pulled me right in!
Glad you like it!
Fingers crossed 😀
is this only open to bloggers of canada, USA or the whole north america or this is open to worldwide?
Hi Maria, It’s open to anyone worldwide. However, the flight voucher is for $500, so make sure you could cover the rest of the price of your ticket.
An then there was the time I met Narcis Coll… an everyday farmer, who was as sweet as the apples he offered me. http://wp.me/p2GCVX-1aE
Thanks for entering (again), Cacinda. Hope to see you there.
It’s up. Hope you enjoy the story. http://jeffcutler.com/food-travel-blog/the-most-interesting-person-ive-ever-met-while-traveling
Thanks for entering Jeff. If only I knew that I could trade my rent payment for a surfboard…
This was an amazing blog post to write. I would love to attend TBEX Canada. Thank you for the opportunity to share this story.

Thanks for your entry, Tammilee. Those carvings are really impressive.
I was amazed at how detailed the carvings were with a simple little tool. He was so amazing to talk with.
Respect among strangers, it could save you grief.

Great entry, Kelly. Definitely a good lesson to share with other travelers.
A great opportunity and I could write about a number of inspirational people I’ve met traveling. Haven’t made it to a TBEX yet. But as a blogging boomer female traveling solo the whole Hostel thing just doesn’t appeal. Maybe you’ll offer a different deal.
Hi Gaelyn,
I work with WeHostels, we’re sponsoring the contest. If the rest of the package (pass and flight voucher) sound good, you could still enter. I’m sure we could find someone else to take the hostel bed if you don’t want it.
You can find other lodging options here: https://tbexcon.com/canada/lodging/.
Here’s my very first blog post ever, inspired by a modern-day “pirate” I met in Honduras. Wonder what he’s been up to lately???

Thank you very much and I hope I can join you!
Hi Jonathan,
Yes, of course you can participate. However, the prize includes a blogger pass, not a company pass.
Thank-you for the opportunity to write this post about my friend William. http://mylifeinthesun.ca/william-qammaniq-from-iqaluit/
Thank YOU for writing it, Laura. It was a touching story. At least you got to know him for a bit. That’s better than never having met.
Isn’t that what travel is all about!? The chance to meet inspiring people and places. It was indeed worth it! Take care.
Can i write my post in Spanish? … or should i do in English?
Either one works. Most of our team speaks Spanish as we have an office in Bogota and our CEO is from Argentina. Thanks for entering.

Kind regards,

Thanks Justin. Yeah she is a really inspiring person, very quirky and interesting. Just shows that optimism can get you through. One just needs to smile 🙂
Thanks for entering, Elizabeth. It’s great to hear how/why you started blogging. Karine’s story is really inspiring.

I met a World Record Breaker during my travels!
http://www.girlabouttheglobe.com/blog/the-most-interesting-person-ive-ever-met-travelling/
Awesome! Instead of those commercials with “The Most Interesting Man in the World,” I want to see “The Most Well-Traveled Man in the World.”
The most interesting person I’ve met on travels is the most memorable and a complete stranger who becomes quite personal and influential. Thanks for the opportunity.

Hi Kat,
Your link isn’t working. Is your site down?
I saw the Dalai Lama!
Here’s how I explained TBEX to my readers: “TBEX is to travel bloggers what The Dalai Lama is to Buddhism – it’s a conference with workshops and lectures about how to better at what we do. Bow to Buddha for me, or just wish me luck, will ya?”
http://jessicajhill.com/2013/04/30/his-holiness-the-dalai-lama-in-person/
I hope TBEX is printing that on a banner right now…
I wouldn’t stop them…
