In a partnership between TBEX and the Tourism Board of the Philippines, 16 bloggers take off today for a preview look at our host destination for TBEX Asia/Pacific 2017.
Divided into three small groups, each focusing on a different destination within the country and a different theme, international bloggers will meet up with local Pinoy bloggers for adventures and experiences recommended by the local bloggers. The experiences include:
Adventure – Legazpi, the capital of the province of Albay and the government center of Bicol, is one of the Philippines’ premier destinations and among the fastest growing cities. It is blessed with a spectacular landscape and scenery that has enthralled visitors and graced innumerable photos and postcards over the years. Renowned as a tourist city for many decades because of world-famous Mayon Volcano, the Legazpi of today is more than just your front seat to Mayon or jump-off point to Bicol’s attractions. Offering a fusion of nature, adventure and culture experiences, Legazpi is already a complete destination by itself.
Culture and Heritage – This trip covers a visit to Ilocos in Laoag which is the capital of Ilocos Norte and the hub of everything Ilocano, and then moves moves to the neighboring city of Vigan, the capital of Ilocos Sur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Vigan is a well-preserved example of a European trading town in East and Southeast Asia, with architecture reflective of its roots in both materials and design, in its fusion of Asian building design and construction with European colonial architecture and planning.
Eco-Luxury – This trip heads to El Nido, a showcase of’ geological and biological diversity. In recognition of the
importance of its unique ecosystem, the Philippine government declared the entire area of El Nido a turtle sanctuary in 1984, then to a marine reserve park in 1991, and finally in 1998, a managed resource protected area. The El Nido Resorts is a group of eco-resorts located offering local hospitality and unique and enriching experiences amidst the beautiful natural landscape. It has received numerous international awards for its green practices and commitment to sustainable tourism.
