Bikes, Backroads, Bayous & Brews

Note: Full day excursion. We recommend athletic shoes and attire. Nalgene/water bottles, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are recommended. Some cycling experience is required.

Description: Discover the backroads of Lafayette as you make your way to the town of Arnaudville with a bike ride just under 20 miles long. At the halfway point stop and take a swamp tour at McGee’s before continuing to Arnaudville. The trek will end at Bayou Teche Brewing where you can sample the many varieties of beer on tap as well as enjoy pizza and wings at the on-site restaurant Cajun Saucer.

Two-Stepping Good Time

Description:  Lafayette’s distinct mix of Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco makes for a musical experience like no other. For music lovers there’s no place else where you can get a taste of all these flavors. For dancers the music is endless as are the dance partners. On this tour learn how key instruments in Cajun & Creole music, are made as well as played. You can also try your hand at a two-step and waltz at a private dance lesson.

Lafayette History Tour

Description: Learn about the cultural history of Lafayette starting at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve with the film The Cajun Way: Echoes of Acadia combined with various exhibits. Next door is the 23-acre living history museum Vermilionville, where you will learn about the living history of the Native America, Cajuns, and Creoles.

Hub City Tour

Description: This full day tour includes a guided tour of the Historic Vermilionville Village, a Louisiana Cajun swamp boat tour in beautiful Lake Martin with Champagne’s Swamp Tours, a Cajun dance lesson with Glide Studios, and more! Of course, we’re going to feed you well! Our favorite gumbo and bread pudding are on the menu for lunch and we’ll also throw in a boudin snack so you can eat like a local at some of our favorite Cajun restaurants in Lafayette.

TABASCO

Description: The tour starts with a look back at the history of the McElhanney family in the history museum. From there you will experience the entire TABASCO hot sauce making process from the plants growing in their greenhouse to the bottling line. In addition, learn about the island’s conservation efforts and the salt mine display as well as a cooking demo and lunch with their various products finished off with a botanical tour through Jungle Gardens.

Lafayette en français

Art Tour

Description: Explore some of Lafayette’s art scene with this full day tour starting at the Hilliard University Art Museum exhibit Acadiana Brown Cotton. The tour will continue to local artist Francis Pavy’s Studio where participants will get an inside look at his process and artwork. The day will end at the Hallway, a non-profit gallery for local artists.

Atchafalaya Basin Photography & Swamp Tour

Description: Regardless of whether you’re a serious photographer looking to add to your portfolio, or an amateur trying to hone your skills, this 3-hour long paddle tour will teach you about photography and the swamp, all while helping you capture the best images!

Flora & Fauna Hike & Paddle

Note: Full day excursion. The price of lunch is not included. Wear comfortable clothes and bring hiking or sturdy shoes for the first portion of the day. Water shoes or sandals are also suggested for the paddling portion.

Description: Enjoy the natural beauty of Lafayette by land and river. The day starts with a morning hike at the Acadiana Park Nature Station where you will be guided through the various plants, insects, and possibly animals that inhabit our area. Following the hike will be a short 10 mile guided paddle where you will learn about the waterways that shaped the culture and communities of Lafayette. The paddle ends at Vermilionville where a late lunch will be eaten at their onsite restaurant La Cuisine de Maman.

Haunted Lafayette

Description: Who haunts the houses and buildings of Acadiana, a region rich in culture and history? Those who refuse to leave hang in shadows, tease us with weird happenings, and some even show themselves in the dark of night. On this tour you will visit some of the most haunted places in Lafayette, and even grab a bite to eat at a haunted café, but only if you’re brave enough to face the unexplained.

Canoe Paddling Tour

Description: Experience the beauty and bounty of nature on this canoe paddling tour to explore the flaura and fauna of the area. You will be paired in canoes and led by a guide who will point out treasures in the bayous of Cajun Country.

Jefferson Island Tour

Description: Explore the charming Jefferson Island, a mysterious place haunted by the legend that the pirate Jean Lafitte buried his treasures under the giant live oaks that would later shelter a home and garden. You will also tour the beautiful Rip Van Winkle Gardens where you can view the many varieties of plants as well as Rip’s Rookery, home to egrets and spoonbills that nest in the area. End the tour at Café Jefferson with lunch before returning to Lafayette.

Golf

Note: Half day excursion. Please let us know if you need to rent clubs. Wear proper golf attire including collared shirts and golf shoes. Nalgene/water bottles, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are recommended. Price of lunch not included.

Description: Enjoy a round of golf at one of Louisiana’s Audubon Golf Courses, The Wetlands. This course was designed by architect Frank Burandt to showcase the region’s many lakes and wetland areas, it also features abundant native grasses and wildflowers. The challenge of the golf course presents itself with well-bunkered greens and water hazards that affect 11 of its 18 holes.
