Departure from Catania to Piazza Armerina by coach
sightseeing tour of the old town led by a professional tourist guide and breakfast stopover with tasting of Sicilian delicacies.

Visit to the church, dedicated to st John and frescoed by Borremans,
known as “Sicily’s Sistine Chapel”, followed by the visit to Garibaldi
theatre and the Commandery of the Knights of Malta, where the guests
will be welcomed by actors in medieval costumes. Visits to Piazza Armerina’s Cathedral, Palazzo Trigona and the
permanent exhibition of the ancient Jesuit college library of vintage
books.

-Lunch based on local cuisine. no host
-The afternoon will be dedicated to visit the ancient Roman “Villa of
Casale”, famous for  its splendid roman mosaics.

Description: You will spend about 2 and a half hours with your tour guide visiting the terraces of the Diocesan Museum, the walkways of San Nicola church, the terrace of Palazzo Biscari. This is the best way to have a different point of view “from above”, looking at people who move around and appreciating the unique natural position of the town between water and fire: the Ionian sea and the volcano Etna. Your tour will finish with a stroll in the “pescheria” – historical fish market, where not only the fish is the principal actor.

Description:  Standing on your electric chariot and following your guide and your Segway specialist,  you will stroll around Catania. In the Villa Pacini we learn together how to use our Segway vehicle. From here we  reach Piazza Duomo. Taking via Etnea we cross Piazza Università. From here we go to Piazza Vincenzo Bellini. Back to Via Etnea, we reach Piazza Stesicoro and then we cross the green area of the public garden, well known as “Villa Bellini”, so we reach Piazza Dante. After that we go along Via Crociferi, to arrive, after passing under the arch San Benedetto, to piazza San Francesco and then to Piazza Federico di Svevia. Finally we go back to Villa Pacini.

Nordic Walking along the Playa

Description:  Would you like to listen about ancient myths? and learn how to make granita? and  meet a family that still organizes puppet shows? Join us in this experience! Moving from Catania by with your experienced driver-guide, you will stop along the coast to look at the Norman castle in Acicastello and at the “faraglioni” – lava pillows that gave origin to the story of  Ulisses and Polifemo. Proceeding to Acireale and stop in the Villa Belvedere to admire an amazing landscape that goes from Sicily to Calabria. On foot you will reach the Duomo and the San Sebastiano church. Before leaving Acireale stop in a traditional ice cream shop to learn the secret of the Sicilian granita, which origin dates back to the Arabian presence in Sicily and was once made with snow from Etna and fresh lemon juice. Finally visit to a traditional puppet theater and museum.

The Cyclops Riviera, where Myth, stories and nature are extremely important. This archipelago dates back 5,000 years and is the result of pre-Etna volcanic submarine activity .

1) 9:30  The ” Castle “ Aci Castello has a particular shape which recalls a stoneship stranded on the square between the sky and the sea . The terrace houses a botanical garden, an interesting example of micro environmental climate with luxuriant plants and cacti of considerable value .

2) 11.00 am San Giuseppe Church and Giovanni Calogero Atelier
You can first visit the rooms of the castle which house a little Museum with an archaelogical section and a mineralogical section , then you can see a Byzantine Chapel where you can appreciate and admire some works the Sicilian- Catanese Jean Calogero . In San Giuseppe Church you
can admire paintings of great artistic value attributed to well-known Acese pictorial schools including three paintings by Matteo Ragonese a .mid-eighteenth century painter and the circle of the Catanese
painter Olivo Sozzi including The Pale depicting San Francesco di Paola and San Filippo Neri. This place also houses four modern paintings by Jean Calogero , a twentieth century Sicilian painter. His paintings offer a successful combination of art, where classic forms and chromatic choices alternate with contemporary ones.

3) 12:00 Aci trezza is a few kilometers from Aci Castello. It is a fishing village with a lively promenade . The seafront is dominated by the Faraglioni dei Ciclopi, famous basaltic pointed rocks, with pointed and jagged shapes which rise from the sea.

4) 1.00 pm Street Food with tasting of Etna wine and typical local products. Sicilian gastronomy is famous all over the world, and Aci Castello offers a wide choice of local specialties. You can taste the well known“Arancini “ typical Sicilian food , different kinds of
superb Etna wines and a lot of local products. The tour ends with a visit to the ancient Sicilian craft workshop of the so-called “Mastri D’Ascia”,
craftsmen carpenters expert in the construction and decoration of small boats.

5) 3.30 pm La “Casa del Nespolo”
Description: The next part of the tour continues with a guided tour of the “ Casa del Nespolo” museum inspired by Giovanni Verga’s novel “ I Malavoglia “ a nineteenth century masterpiece by G. Verga. The novel is set in Acitrezza , a small little fishing village , and it portrays the hard and difficult life of that community. In this museum you can admire the ancient fishing tools of that time.You can also listen to a storyteller “cantastorie” who dramatizes some passages d rawn from the novel
“I Malavoglia”, Moreover you can taste the “ lupins of Bastianazzo” ( a sort of legumes). Another room in the museum houses images of Luchino Vsconti’s film “ La Terra Trema”, a neorealist film,shot in the late 1940s by the great Milanese film director who chose common local people
as actors .

DESCRIPTION

Ever thought about rock climbing? Experience this incredible and safe sport while discovering Sicily’s beautiful  nature.

You will be learning how to approach this discipline on real rocks, in total safety, with a professional Alpine Guide. A little bit of adrenaline while discovering locations very far from normal touristic paths.

You will be driving around 1h from the town of Catania towards the area of Siracusa.

Once arrived to the crag area, to get to the climbing spot there will be a trekking with uneven steps on rocky terrain. There your professional alpine guide will be setting the routes and teaching you the basis of rock climbing. If you already climb, there sure will be some routes you will love to try!

A little pick nick lunch, made with local specialties, will be offered by our company so please make sure you have communicated eventual dietary requirements.
