Empty your mind of expectations and be prepared to embark on an epic adventure across the buttes, badlands and breaks of Southeast Montana. This is where the mountains roll out to meet the prairie. From the massive Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area to the smallest towns with weird names (can you say Eek-ah-lack-ah?), you will rub elbows with locals at a historic saloon, discover dinosaurs and hike the unassuming prairies. You will visualize the warriors who bravely fought the Battle of Little Bighorn and later see the world’s largest steer, which gained its girth from eating bootleggers’ mash. This fam is for those who avoid mainstream, but get a tingle in their belly when they anticipate an experience that is one-off from average.
NOTE: There are only (4) spots open for fly-fishing and housing is Montana-rustic, including some shared, same-gender accommodations and a night in the state’s longest continuously-operating hotel.
