Sienna Spencer-Markles is the Public Relations Manager for the Los Angeles Zoo. A Southern California native with extensive experience in the tourism and media industries, Sienna is the ultimate “people person” whose personal warmth and enthusiasm for a good story form the backdrop of her success as a public relations professional.
Sienna’s passion for media, tourism, travel, hospitality, entertainment and food is a consistent theme in her personal life as well as her professional work. As a one-time journalist, she loves integrating traditional media relations with new social media tools that make it possible to tell authentic stories and create positive brand awareness on every platform available.
Prior to her position with the L.A. Zoo, Sienna served as the Public Relations Manager for McCue PR for nearly a decade, where she happily promoted some of California’s best tourism destinations including: Joshua Tree National Park, Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, Orange County, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, South Coast Plaza, Ventura County, Sonoma County and many more. Before transitioning into PR, Sienna worked on the media side as a Producer for the popular NPR radio show “Good Food” and a food writer with the Los Angeles Times and Edible Los Angeles Magazine. Sienna is also a former chef for some of L.A.’s top restaurants before launching into private catering, teaching cooking and producing food and wine events.
Sienna holds a B.A. in Communications from California State University, Los Angeles. She currently lives in L.A. with her husband, daughter and handsome dog, Buddy.
