The number of tourists visiting Donegal is consistently on the increase driven by a number of factors including the establishment and promotion of the Wild Atlantic Way, along which there are a number of Signature Points- Slieve League, Fanad Lighthouse and Malin Head and other Discovery Points such as spell binding islands, breath taking blue flag beaches and world class golf courses to name but a few.
Donegal has so much to offer any visitor. It has been named the ‘Coolest Place on the Planet’ by National Geographic Traveller as part of their ‘Cool List 2017’ awards. Donegal has also been awarded the ‘Ireland’s Hidden Gem’ title by readers of the ‘Irish Independent Travel’ publication.
Along with this it has one of Ireland’s largest counties; it also boasts many offshore inhabited islands that are well worth a visit. It has the longest coastline of any county; the perfect starting point for the stunning Wild Atlantic Way coastal route; Europe’s highest sea cliffs at Slieve League, towering over 600 metres above sea level; the highest number of award-winning Blue Flag beaches in Ireland; the largest geographical native Irish speaking ‘Gaeltacht’ area; many superb links Golf courses; an outdoor adventurer’s paradise; mountains; lakes; glens; sumptuous dining; top class accommodation to suit all pockets; friendly nightlife; heritage; culture; tradition; and ‘mighty craic’!
