Everyone wants to be a better writer. And this workshop, led by four accomplished travel writers, will help you learn to do just that. Starting with your concept, and progressing through to a finished piece, you’ll learn the life cycle of a travel story and how to make yours better. You’ll leave this workshop with solid takeaways on how to improve your writing, including:
- How to understand and write to your audience
- How to find your voice (and why it matters)
- Where’s that confounded angle? It’s great that you went somewhere, but what’s the story?
- Learn the structure of a story, both narrative and non-narrative (hint: they’re different)
- Write stronger, more evocative descriptions
- Take the bloat out of your writing
- Improve your writing with research and fact-checking
- Become a better self-editor, including things to do before you hit publish
This Pre-BEX writing workshop is designed for those who want to spend some time workshopping their writing. It is not a prerequisite for attending any of the writing classes on the main program and we believe all levels of writers will find it worthwhile.
Please come prepared to the workshop with a post or story that is no longer than 800 words.
