Within the compound is Wat Phra Kaew (The Temple of The Emerald Buddha), which houses Thailand most precious image of the Lord Buddha.

Travel on the Chao Phraya River (The River of Kings) and on through The Klongs (canals) of Thonburi and discover rural canal life, no tourist in sight! In the morning, take a Metro to the next skytrain station. The “Saphan Taksin” station is located directly by the river. Proceed by public boat to Tha Chang Pier and walk the short distance to the Grand Palace, where you will visit Wat Phra Kaew and the Emerald Buddha. Then cross the canal from the house, you will visit the weaving village of Baan Krua, Bangkok’s largest Muslim community, is the original supplier of silk for Jim Thompson’s company.

Begin your trip at Wat Suthat, one of the oldest first grade Buddhist temple built since the era of King Rama I, over 200 years ago, with appealing mural painting, gorgeous craved door panel and rows of different Buddha images. At the entrance you will notice the red Giant swing which is the part that remains from the original swing used in Brahms ceremony to show appreciation to Shiva for the abundant harvest. Then continue to Baan Batra community, famed in making monk alms-bowl. After a short walk, you will reach Wat Saket and climb up to admire the spectacular sight of the city and the Golden Mountain, one of the city’s symbols, where Buddha’s relic was kept inside.

In the afternoon, visit Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall where you will discover an entertaining way to learn about the history of Thailand during the Rattanakosin Era (circa 1782 onwards) through a variety of interactive exhibitions in seven chambers. Wat Traimitr is a Royal temple famous for the enormous gold Buddha image it houses. A striking 3-meter tall, 5.5 tons solid gold Buddha image, constructed over 700 years ago during the Sukhothai period. Originally the gold image was covered with plaster to conceal it from the invading Burmese and was just rediscovered accidentally about 40 years ago. Within its compound, visit Yaowarat Chinatown Heritage Center where you can learn the history of the Chinese immigrants in Thailand as well as their culture which has become part of the Thai culture.

Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall & Arts of the Kingdom

There are two main reasons a single traveler must visit the great Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. Firstly, this structure is one of the most beautiful Italian Renaissance architectures outside Italy. The construction of this grand mansion was commissioned by His Majesty King Rama V in 1906 to serve as the reception hall. After the reign of King Rama V. Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall was later served as Thailand’s first parliament after the political transition from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy and is now used for important state’s functions. Secondly, Ananta Samakhom currently hosts the fifth edition of “Arts of the Kingdom” exhibition that displays sophisticated art pieces and crafts made of precious materials by the craftsmen of Sirikit Institute, an organization under the royal patronage to help raise living standards in rural areas by encouraging them to learn and create traditional crafts. The masterpieces include a model of royal barges made of gold and a 10 meter tall carved teak panels.

Bangkok Night Lights Tuk Tuk Tour – Vegetarian Festival Edition:

Between October 13 – 21, the annual vegetarian festival will be celebrated across Thailand. On this special edition of our Bangkok Night Lights Tour, in addition to seeing some of Bangkok’s main Landmarks, we will sample some of the vegetarian (actually vegan) food that pops up and take in some of the festivities that are going on. We will travel by tuk tuk to explore Bangkok’s markets, temples and food, under the night lights. Seeing the sites at night brings out the true excitement, beauty and mystery of the city.
